How difficult or how easy are they to construct?
All of our polytunnels have been designed knowing that you our customer will be the one erecting the product. We do not expect you to have a degree in engineering or to have been hooked on meccano when you were a child. You will find that when erecting the larger tunnels two pairs of hands will be better than one. Another piece of advice would be never try to erect a polytunnel on a windy day, unless you intend to take up kiting with you as the tail of the kite. We would expect that any of these polytunnels shown on the site should be erected within a couple of hours. We will supply with each polytunnell a complete set of photographic instructions that will take you step by step through the process of building. If you do run into difficulty then there is always our e-mail address support@polytunnelsonline.com where help will be at hand. There will be a number of simple tools that will be useful such as a hammer and a stanley knife. The hammer will be used to drive in the holding down pegs. It Is a good idea to mark out the position where the tunnel is to be erected making sure that the site is level. The full size polytunnels have been designed with an additional flap of material at the base line of the construction. The idea of this is so that the constuction can be weighed down with soil which has been excavated from around the outside of the greenhouse. When assembling the larger buildings a step ladder will be essential.
How are the polytunnels erected?
If you wish to see this in detail there is a section within this web site that will take you directly to the relevant set of instructions.
How secure is my polytunnel?
If polytunnels blew away commercial growers would not use them. If the polytunnel is properly weighed down with soil as recommended then the building will be very stable. In exposed situations we would advise that additional weights as well as the soil be used to afford greater stability.
What can I grow under cover?
What ever can be grown under glass can be grown in one of our polytunnels. You only have to travel the breadth and width of the UK to see what is being grown. The only limit would seem to be our own imagination.
The great advantage is that by using your polytunnel you will be extending the growing season and giving greater protection to your produce in the process.
